PC8XL2D - PowerCenter 8.x Level 2 Developer

This four-day, instructor-led course complements and extends "PowerCenter 8x/9.0 Level One Developer" with advanced topics and extended labs. The course is intended for developers with more than six months of PowerCenter 8 experience. Topics covered include: High availability, the use of Advanced functions, transformations including Java; Pipeline and Dynamic Lookups, SQL, and Transaction Control transformations. Topics include, Pivoting data; Transaction control, troubleshooting methodology, Recovery, the use of Command Line utilities; Mapping Architect for Visio, and an extensive series of performance tuning workshops that include methodology, mapping design, cache management/memory optimization

Day 1:
• Course Introduction
• PowerCenter Service Oriented Architecture
• Describe the Components of the PowerCenter 8 architecture and define key terms.
• PowerCenter's high availability features
• Mapping Design and Parameter Files
• Java Transformation, and User-Defined Functions, Advanced Functions
• Pivoting Data (Normalization and De-Normalization)

Day 2:
• Dynamic and Pipeline Lookups, Reference Table Manager
• Stored Procedure and the SQL Transformations
• Trouble Shooting Review and Error Handling
• Log files, messages, process to diagnose and correct errors
• Transaction Processing
• Source, Target, and User=Based Transaction Control
• Constraint-Based Loading
• Transaction Control Transformation
• Using the Transaction Control Transformation to control target commits.
• Recovery
• Configuring workflows and sessions for recovery

Day 3:
• Command Line Programs
• Using PMCMD and PMREP developer functionality
• Mapping Architect for Visio
• Describe the use of the mapping Architect for Visio as part of the developer/analyst design and development process.
