Genesee Academy - Data Vault Training & Certification

Affecto Academy are pleased to offer the first class held May 24-25 . In support of this first class, the first awareness session is planned for the morning of April 10 2012. 

Certified Data Vault Data Modeler (CDVDM) training courses

This is the primary Genesee Academy seminar course and includes the Data Vault data modeling approach and the related DW architecture.  This course will cover the core concepts of the Data Vault including the Hubs, Links, Satellites, modeling of the business keys, table key structures, detailed attributes, modeling rules, and managing relationships.  The course allows students to apply the data vault approach to in-classroom labs completed in small groups.  Advanced and exception modeling constructs are presented along with the best practices for applying them.  On the second day, Real life examples are presented and discussed.  The fit of the Data Vault in the overall EDW architecture will be covered including discussions on the staging area, the data warehouse layer, the business data vault, data marts, and the role of dimensional modeling.   The class is delivered using a blended approach combining both lecture style in the classroom (2 days) with online on-demand training (2 weeks). 

The GA hybrid education format utilized in our training programs is an innovative blended pedagogy that ensures key learning objectives are met.  By leveraging our custom on-demand video education format for the two weeks prior to the classroom sessions, students can work independently (and at their own pace) to learn the preliminary content.  This process is time managed using a quiz, a lab and a survey. Once in the classroom we deploy lectures, discussions and structured group exercises.
